Partner Spotlight – Yanga SC and Community Football in Tanzania

6 February 2026
In recognition of the club’s exceptional 2024/25 campaign, SportPesa awarded a TZS 262.5 million bonus to Yanga as league champions.

Since 2017, SportPesa has been honoured to stand alongside Young Africans SC (Yanga SC) – one of Tanzania’s most successful, culturally significant, and community‑rooted football clubs. This partnership is built on a shared vision: strengthening football from the ground up, empowering young talent, and ensuring that the sport remains a powerful force for unity and opportunity across the country.

A Partnership Anchored in Growth and Ambition

Yanga SC occupies a special place in Tanzanian football, with a legacy of passion, excellence, and national pride. SportPesa’s role as a long‑standing supporter has been central to sustaining this momentum.

Over the past decade, Yanga has shown remarkable consistency. Most recently, the club secured its fourth consecutive Tanzanian Premier League title in the 2024/25 season, and confirmed a renewed three-year investment valued at TZS 21.7 billion.

These achievements speak to the club’s dominance, as well as a spirit of ambition that SportPesa is proud to fuel.

SportPesa is Yanga SC’s primary sponsor.
SportPesa renewed its role as Yanga SC’s primary sponsor in August 2025 in a three‑year agreement valued at TZS 21.7 billion.

Central to Yanga’s success is a disciplined approach to talent development. SportPesa’s support has enabled the club to strengthen its technical capacity, invest in high‑quality coaching, and maintain the infrastructure required to push further in competitions.

Strengthening Tanzania’s Football Communities

SportPesa’s investment in Tanzania is more than a badge on a shirt. Over recent years, partnerships have supported multiple Premier League sides including Namungo FC, Simba SC and Singida United. The goal is simple: unlock talent and opportunity wherever it lives.

That same approach underpins nationwide grassroots initiatives. Through the Game Changers programme, SportPesa distributed more than 500 full kits to young players in the country. This is practical support that raises standards, pride and participation.

The Shabiki Cup adds a competitive platform – a SportPesa‑powered grassroots tournament that attracts scouts, energises local fanbases and gives emerging players a route to bigger stages.

As Doreen Kwayu, Head of Operations, SportPesa Tanzania, said: “Supporting every level of football – from elite teams through to grassroots – is a huge part of what we do at SportPesa.”

A Shared Commitment to Tanzania’s Footballing Story

The partnership between SportPesa and Yanga SC is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: football can change lives. It can unlock opportunity, fuel ambition, and rally communities behind a shared purpose.

As Yanga SC continues to build on its legacy, SportPesa is proud to remain a dedicated partner in the next chapter of Tanzanian football.
