SportPesa donates over 500 kits to grassroots football players in Tanzania

28 January 2026

As part of its Game Changers initiative, SportPesa has donated over 500 kits to grassroots football players in Tanzania.

SportPesa worked closely with Regional Football Associations across eight regions to ensure the football kits were donated to players who needed them most.

The kit handovers played an essential role in supporting SportPesa’s goal of reaching and supporting as many Tanzanian football players as possible.

Doreen Kwayu, Head of Operations, SportPesa Tanzania, said:

“Football has always been a dream that seemed out of reach for many of the players awarded. The majority started playing at the district level and, with time, qualified for the regional level, often covering long distances and training with minimal resources.

“SportPesa Game Changers is central to our mission of Making It Count. The initiative is designed to provide an impact beyond the donation of kits. It encourages discipline, teamwork, and dedication among grassroots players looking to qualify for the award. Each region had its unique challenges, but the message was clear: talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not.”

SportPesa partners with communities and athletes across Africa to help create opportunities for those who need them most. This initiative supports teams, players, and communities by strengthening grassroots football and contributing to sports development in Tanzania
