Anthony Mbugua

Antony is the Chief Information Officer at SportPesa. As part of his role, Antony leads the global technology function and is responsible for the infrastructure, innovation, and delivery of SportPesa products to customers in all markets.

Antony, who has been at SportPesa since 2016, works with his team to continuously provide the best experience for customers. Under Antony’s leadership, the technology team is always considering ways in which technology can continue to give SportPesa a competitive advantage in its markets and continuously improve the customer experience.

As technology continues to change and grow, Antony is currently exploring how SportPesa can leverage AI to provide better customer experience across its markets. Antony is constantly leveraging old and new technologies to enhance service delivery and business advantage.

Cyber security is also a key focus for Antony, with SportPesa investing heavily in security across its network,

Antony joined SportPesa nine years ago as a Service Delivery Manager in IT. In 2017 he was promoted to Head of IT before being appointed the Chief Information Officer in 2022. Prior to joining SportPesa, Antony worked in the Private, public and Non-profit sectors and led a team of over 150 people during his time as Computech Limited to provide services to a range of organisations including the UN and Kenya Airways.

Antony has a BSc in Computer Science from African Nazarene University.

Antony lives with his wife and two children in Nairobi. Outside of work, Antony enjoys going to the theatre, watching movies, and listening to music. He is learning to play the bass guitar with his daughter and has a dream of being in a band someday.
