Mwirigi Imungi

Mwirigi Imungi is the Chief Financial Officer of SportPesa. As part of his role, Mwirigi leads the on all aspects of finance for the brand, including audit, corporate finance, tax and financial planning and analysis.

Mwirigi, who has been at SportPesa since 2018, built SportPesa’s finance function from the ground up. Since then, Mwirigi has been focused on building finance capabilities that support the growth of the SportPesa brand. Looking to the future, Mwirigi is focused on ensuring that the finance function is fully automated and that there is a proactive approach to planning and budgeting across all SportPesa teams.

Prior to joining SportPesa, Mwirigi worked in various finance roles, including with a policy think tank in California and for Pacific Gas and Electric Company in San Francisco. Mwirigi moved back to Kenya and worked for Diageo for a number of years, helping to evolve its corporate finance function. Mwirigi has a MA in Economics and an MBA in Business and Finance.

Mwirigi is married and has one child. Outside of work, he loves playing golf and is actively working to lower his handicap. Mwirigi also enjoys going for long cycles, especially to Tigoni, a village Northwest of Nairobi. He is an Arsenal supporter and is often found cheering on his favourite team with his family.
