SportPesa Tanzania: 2025 Year in Review
2025 has been another year of growth and for SportPesa in Tanzania, defined by major partnerships, sporting achievements, and a steadfast commitment to grassroots development and community impact.
Elevating Tanzanian football: Yanga SC and Premier League success

This year, SportPesa renewed its partnership with Yanga SC, signing a three-year sponsorship deal worth TZS 21.7 billion. This year, the club celebrated its fourth consecutive Premier League title – winning 27 out of 30 matches and scoring 83 goals. SportPesa also awarded Yanga SC a TZS 262.5 million bonus for their championship win, to support not only the men’s team but also the women’s and grassroots squads within the club.
Grassroots and community: The SportPesa effect
SportPesa’s commitment to grassroots football continued with its Game Changers initiative which saw 32 teams and 512 players receive new football kits. In total, over 500 players have benefited from this initiative, which aims to empower communities and nurture young football talent across Tanzania.
Shabiki Cup: empowering future stars

The Shabiki Cup remained a cornerstone of grassroots football in Tanzania in 2025. The tournament offers young footballers the chance to compete at a high level and serves as a scouting platform for top clubs. This year was another huge success, and plans are underway to expand the tournament, to increase the number of participating teams, and create stronger pathways for players to transition into professional football.
Doreen Kwayu, Head of Operations, SportPesa Tanzania, highlighted how this is about much more than just a football tournament – “The Shabiki Cup shines a light on the sporting talent in our country, and we look forward to seeing more talented footballers enter the next Shabiki Cup tournament.”

Celebrating our midweek jackpot winners
2025 has been a remarkable year for SportPesa players in Tanzania, with a series of life-changing Midweek Jackpot wins. Six people joined the winners club this year, including Manase Elias Ottaro, a dedicated teacher and father of three, who took home TZS 200,000,000 and Fadhil Daniford Ndomba who claimed a prize of TZS 222,269,780.
Sporting excellence and recognition
One of the year’s highlights was SportPesa Tanzania being crowned Best Sports Betting Brand in Africa at the Best Brand Africa Awards 2025. This remarkable achievement highlights the brand’s leadership in innovation, customer engagement, and investment in sports and communities.
Innovation and Digital Entertainment
2025 also saw the launch of Turbo League, a new virtual football game in partnership with Kiron Interactive, available to players in Tanzania and Kenya. Turbo League delivers fast-paced, accessible gameplay optimised for mobile devices, further enhancing SportPesa’s portfolio of digital sports entertainment.
