SportPesa boosts investment in Kenyan boxing
SportPesa recently held the second edition of its SportPesa Boxing initiative in Kenya which brought together some of the best boxing talent from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sweden, and Belgium. The event was held in collaboration with UFSBXING.
SportPesa has a track record of supporting boxing, offering Kenyan athletes opportunities to develop their skills and progress from grassroots stars to widely recognised professionals.
The sponsorship is part of a wider initiative aimed at highlighting Kenyan boxing talent and giving athletes the opportunities they need to compete on the international stage.
Jason Gibson, Chief Commercial Officer at SportPesa, said:
“Supporting sports is about more than just competition—it’s about giving exceptional talent a platform to showcase their skills and get noticed. This recent event is another demonstration of our unwavering commitment to helping athletes reach their highest potential and bringing communities together through the power of sport.”
Boxing fans were treated to eight professional boxing matches, which saw Kenyan Lightweight Champion Javan successfully defending his title and Kenya’s Consolata Musanga win the Women’s Super Bantamweight title.
This latest sponsorship builds on SportPesa’s continued commitment to Kenyan boxing. In 2018, SportPesa supported Fatuma “Iron Fist” Zarika, which saw her become a w
orld boxing champion. The partnership focused not only on sport, but supporting the next generation of boxing talent in Kenya. Working with SportPesa, Zarika donated boxing gym equipment to the gym where her journey began. Read more about SportPesa and Zarika’s partnership here.
SportPesa is committed to investing in African sports, with the goal of raising sporting talent at all levels, supporting local communities, and inspiring future generations of African athletes.
