Our commitment to the SportPesa effect led us to create a KSh 5 million kitty to support six grassroots teams in Kasarani, Kenya. This initiative was designed to uplift local talent and strengthen the football ecosystem from the ground up.

The investment targeted six grassroots teams – five men’s teams and one women’s team – during the 2023/24 season. It provided them with essential financial backing and resources including brand new home and away kits.

Our goal was clear: to help these teams climb their leagues, play better football and compete on bigger stages. By reducing financial pressures and injecting professional standards into grassroots football, we aimed to drive excellence and motivation through the sport’s ecosystem in Kenya.

At grassroots level, many players are students or working elsewhere to support themselves. For these athletes, our support was transformative, allowing them to focus on improving their game rather than worrying about costs.

This project encompasses the meaning of the SportPesa Effect in football: creating opportunities, nurturing talent, and ensuring that the beautiful game remains a powerful force for unity and progress in Kenya.
