SportPesa sponsors the Kenyan Premier League

With a belief that Kenyan sport and society could be elevated with greater financial support, SportPesa began its transformative sponsorship of the Premier League.

With an early ambition of supporting all levels of football in Kenya, SportPesa sponsored the Kenyan Premier League.

The partnership involved SportPesa providing greater financial support and security to the highest football league in the country, whilst also helping to elevate Kenyan sport, society and athletes.

The league, which was renamed as the SportPesa Premier League following the sponsorship, was SportPesa’s first major investment supporting top-tier sports in the country.

The sponsorship, which began in 2015, was part of a two-tier approach to support all levels of football across Kenya. The mission behind this work was to support Kenyan footballers and build a pipeline of talent to help Kenya qualify for the FIFA World Cup.

SportPesa’s long-term commitment to supporting Kenyan football success

In 2025, SportPesa and the Football Kenya Federation agreed a 10-year deal for SportPesa to become the title sponsor of the Kenyan Premier League.

The long-term partnership marks a new era of financial stability and growth for Kenya’s top-tier football league, with both parties committing to a shared vision of elevating the standards of Kenyan football, and improving the overall structure and competitiveness of the league. As part of the deal, the league will now be known as the SportPesa League.

The deal, worth KSh 1.12 billion for the Football Kenya Federation, will see 60% of the sponsorship go directly to the clubs in the FKF Premier League as grants, with the remaining 40% allocated to administrative and operational costs to ensure the efficient running of the competition.
