SportPesa launches its flagship initiative, Kits for Africa

The transformative Kits for Africa campaign encouraged UK football fans to donate their old football kits to grassroots teams across Africa. So far, over 45,000 kits have been donated.

SportPesa launched Kits for Africa with a clear goal in mind; to give football kits to as many grassroots football teams across Africa as possible.

Kits For Africa encourages football fans in the UK to donate their old football kits to ensure that every underprivileged, grassroots footballer across Africa has the opportunity to wear their favourite team’s jersey.

This initiative has been a huge success with over 45,000 kits donated and shared with football-loving communities all across the African continent from Kenya and Tanzania to Nigeria and Zambia.

The Kits for Africa campaign is about so much more than wearing a football kit. It’s about hope. Giving young people the belief that they too might play for their favourite football team and follow in the footsteps of the world’s most admired players.

Across Africa, football brings communities together, from playing on a perfectly manicured pitch to a makeshift pitch the side of a road.

Many of these young people dream of becoming professional footballers someday, yet they face more barriers than most, from poverty to lack of equipment and proper football infrastructure.

The Kits for Africa initiative gives young aspiring footballers hope that they too – with the right equipment and training – could be playing for their national team, in the Kenyan Premier League or beyond.
