Expanding beyond Kenya and Tanzania, SportPesa entered into a long-term partnership with Cape Town City FC, a partnership that is still ongoing today. This was SportPesa’s first partnership with a South African Premier Soccer League team.
This partnership involved SportPesa supporting the club to continue to invest and develop the senior team, while also supporting the youth teams.
SportPesa and Cape Town City FC created the partnership based on their shared values; to support grassroots football across the country.
In 2024, support for grassroots football expanded, when SportPesa announced that it was sponsoring 100 local teams through Cape Town City FC.
This support meant that grassroots football teams across South Africa received the investment and support they need to grow the game and nurture upcoming talent.
