Renovating Tanzania’s national stadium
We reseeded and renovated the National Stadium in Tanzania to create a state-of-the-art football pitch, and facilities including upgraded changing rooms.
After a decade of use, the National Stadium of Tanzania needed some care and attention – and SportPesa were proud to step in.
SportPesa undertook a major renovation project to reseed and refurbish the stadium, spending more than SH1.4 billion to restore the arena in capital Dar es Salaam.
SportPesa arranged one last match before the doors were closed for works, hosting English Premier League team Everton FC in a match against Gor Mahia of Kenya. After that, alongside improvements to the pitch, we got to work on new changing room facilities and refreshed infrastructure.
Supporting the future of Tanzanian sport
As a result of SportPesa’s efforts, the 60,000 seater stadium was brought up to international standards. The project was all part of SportPesa’s deep commitment to football and to developing the game in Tanzania and beyond.
Six months after work started, the new stadium was reopened, showing players, spectators, football fans and Tanzanians the SportPesa effect in action.
